I found out last week that I’ve been accepted Ruudt Peter‘s jewellery workshop “Dream Now” being held in southern Holland April/May! As part of my Artstart grant application I proposed doing a couple of conceptual jewellery courses. My jewellery training was fairly technically based and although I have a degree in design (albeit interior design) which has helped me develop the conceptual side of my work – I am curious to investigate conceptual design from a jewellery making perspective. I think Ruudt’s approach will help me loosen up and play (and dream) more which is where I think the best work comes from. I am very much looking forward to the workshop.
And it will of course mean travelling to The Netherlands where I lived for two years a while back. I love Holland – the countryside is beautiful, fantastic design, I love riding bikes everywhere (safely), Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful and stylish cities I’ve ever been to – so much happening but also very relaxed and laid-back. And I can check out all the jewellery galleries – including Gallerie Marzee in Nijmegen that I’ve been wanting to visit for ages.
